 Any person desiring to become a full member of the Society should meet at least one of the following criteria

 Publication of at least one peer-reviewed article in the field of nephrology.

 Successful completion of a specialized training in nephrology during a medical residency program, or other post-graduate education in the field of nephrology or an allied field, or basic research training for at least 2 years in the field of nephrology..

 Experience as a specialist and medical consultant in the treatment of kidney disease and related conditions for at least one year.

 Medical practitioners or scientists with above qualifications may apply for admission as full members of TSN upon written recommendation of two full members of the Society. Each full member shall take an active part in promoting the objectives of the Society, and shall undertake such responsibilities as determined by the Society’s Executive Committee.

 Nurses, technologists, scientists, or paramedical personnel interested in Nephrology but is not otherwise qualified to be a full member shall be eligible for application to be admitted as an associated member of the Society upon written recommendation of two full members. Each associate member shall take an active part in the objectives of the Society and shall undertake such responsibilities as determined by the Society but shall have no vote and shall not be eligible for election to office.

 The society aims to continuously develop the range and quality of services and benefits offered to members. Since the Society was established in 1983, membership has grown solidly. As of 2008, TSN already has 1308 members, 99.9% of whom are physicians, and every year, about 50 new members successfully join TSN. All members must pass the Taiwan Nephrology Licensure Exams to qualify as board-certified nephrologists.

 According to the Society’s constitution, the board of supervisors and directors are elected from among the full members and the chairman is elected by the board of directors. They hold such offices for three (3) years or until their successors are duly elected and qualified. The current leadership, which was elected by the 9th session of the General Assembly) has 21 directors and 7 supervisors. The Chairman is Dr. Yuh-Feng Lin, of Tri-Service General hospital.
