Kidney disease is a “disease multiplier”. It causes death in many people with diabetes and hypertension and predicts the development of a cardiovascular event. But if detected early, chronic kidney disease (CKD) can be treated, before patients develop more devastating problems such as a stroke, peripheral vascular disease, coronary heart disease and kidney failure.

Since the total budget for dialysis treatments was included in the NHI global budget payment scheme, there have been considerable changes in medical insurance policies. The Society is committed to implementing NHI policies, without compromising quality of medical care for patients with kidney disease and supports the practice and profession of nephrology in these times of change.

Our future challenges:

TSN is actively promoting the early detection and prevention of CKD, which is an important step towards achieving the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended goal of reducing death rates related to chronic disease in the world by 2% per year over the next decade.

In the public health arena, TSN will continue to advocate for the development of national health policies to improve the quality of care for renal patients, and ensure the fair allocation of dialysis resources and funds.

TSN will always be committed to ensuring the highest professional standards for the practice of nephrology in Taiwan and to promote and advance the study of the kidney and the urinary tract in health and disease.

TSN will continue to cooperate with other national and international societies and organizations to promote the exchange of ideas and education in the field of nephrology.
